Data Center Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Data Center Electrical Engineer to ensure reliable, safe, and uninterrupted power supply to critical IT and facility systems. The role involves operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical infrastructure within a high‑availability data centre environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and operate UPS systems, generators, ATS/AMF panels, and electrical distribution panels (MDB/SMDB/DB, PDU/RPP).
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on transformers, battery banks, and cabling systems.
• Track electrical parameters (voltage, current, frequency, power factor, kW/kVA) and respond to alarms, faults, and emergencies.
• Conduct routine inspections of electrical, UPS, generator, and battery rooms and maintain operational logs.
• Execute switching operations following approved MOP/SOP/EOP procedures.
• Assist with testing of UPS, batteries, generators, and overall electrical systems to verify N+1/2N redundancy.
• Identify abnormal conditions such as overheating, noise, voltage fluctuations, and loose connections.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors during installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning.
• Follow electrical safety protocols, LOTO, PPE, and permit‑to‑work requirements.
• Support changeovers and planned maintenance without impacting critical IT loads.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technician training.
• 2–5 years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a data‑center or critical‑facility environment.
• Strong understanding of three‑phase electrical systems and distribution.
• Ability to read Single Line Diagrams and electrical drawings.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with UPS systems, generators, ATS/AMF panels, MDB/SMDB/DB panels, PDU/RPP systems.
• Knowledge of battery monitoring, transformers, and electrical distribution/cabling.
• Proficiency with electrical testing instruments: multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester, thermal camera.
• Competence in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of power equipment.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures and PPE requirements.
