Electrical Engineer – Mining & Plant Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the maintenance and reliability of electrical systems within our mining and processing plant. The role involves ensuring continuous, safe operation of power distribution, motors, generators and related equipment while supporting improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, control panels, distribution boards and protection systems.
• Ensure reliable electrical operation of mining, crushing, processing, conveyors, pumps, compressors and other plant equipment.
• Diagnose electrical faults, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Monitor and maintain power distribution systems on site and support installation, testing, commissioning, modification and upgrades.
• Track power consumption, identify energy‑efficiency opportunities and recommend cost‑saving measures.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Production, Mining, HSE, contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, LOTO, permit‑to‑work procedures and PPE requirements.
• Supervise electricians, technicians and contractors, providing technical guidance.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, repairs and equipment history.
• Support plant improvement projects, equipment upgrades and infrastructure development.

Required profile

• B.Tech or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance and operations, preferably in mining, mineral processing, crushing plants, cement, hydropower or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs and electrical protection.
• Hands‑on experience with troubleshooting, breakdown management and maintenance planning.
• Familiarity with PLC, VFD, instrumentation and industrial automation is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs and wiring diagrams.
• Good understanding of electrical safety standards, LOTO, permit‑to‑work and PPE practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with electrical design/maintenance software or CMMS preferred.
