Health Information Systems Advisor – Epidemic Preparedness

About the role

PATH is seeking a Health Information Systems Advisor to support the STRIDES project, which strengthens infectious disease surveillance across human and animal health in Nepal. The consultant will provide technical expertise to integrate multiple data streams into national digital platforms and ensure high‑quality, interoperable surveillance services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration of indicator‑event‑community‑based surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, genomic surveillance, and laboratory data into platforms such as DHIS2 and SORMAS.
• Design and implement centralized data pipelines and real‑time dashboards for analysis and decision‑making.
• Assess surveillance architecture, data flows, and system interoperability across sectors.
• Develop secure multisectoral data‑sharing protocols, agreements, and governance frameworks.
• Conduct semi‑annual data quality assessments (DQA) for surveillance and laboratory systems.
• Facilitate data‑sharing forums, technical workshops, and coordination meetings with government and partner stakeholders.
• Support technical staff to keep project activities on track and contribute to reports, publications, and external communications.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in software engineering, health informatics, epidemiology, public health, veterinary medicine, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience implementing health information systems, digital health solutions, or surveillance strengthening in low‑ and middle‑income settings, preferably Nepal.
• Demonstrated expertise in multisectoral surveillance and data governance.
