Health Worker (HA-2) – Community Health Officer

About the role

Manavsewa Ashram, a non‑profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable street‑dwelling populations in Nepal, is seeking a Health Worker (HA‑2) to provide primary medical care, health monitoring and medication management for its beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial health assessments after rescue, prioritize treatment, and arrange hospital referrals when needed.
• Perform wound cleaning and dressing using sterilised tools while preventing infection.
• Manage minimum stock of medicines and health supplies in the medical room according to standards.
• Maintain individual medical files for each beneficiary, recording reports, prescriptions and updates.
• Observe each beneficiary’s health status at least once daily and initiate immediate care for any issues.
• Update medical files with any allergies or abnormal reactions and highlight them.
• Ensure a three‑month stock of mental‑health medicines, antibiotics and OTC drugs, storing narcotics securely.
• Organise medicines by category, label groups clearly, and monitor expiry dates, removing expired stock promptly.
• Apply FEFO inventory method and inform health officials when medicines approach expiry.
• Administer scheduled medication to patients consistently each day.

Required profile

• HA, CMA or nursing qualification in a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience; fresh graduates are also encouraged.
• Medical license is compulsory.
• Fluency in Nepali and English.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to build relationships and respect cultural differences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
