Hardware Design and PCB Engineering Intern

About the role

Nepal Digital Systems is seeking a motivated intern to join its hardware team and take electronic boards from concept through production. You will work on real client and internal projects, gaining hands‑on experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and board bring‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Draw schematics for microcontroller‑based designs using ESP32, STM32, nRF52 and similar parts.
• Select components based on electrical specs, cost, footprint and local availability.
• Lay out multi‑layer PCBs, manage placement, routing, ground/power planes and perform design rule checks.
• Apply mixed‑signal and RF layout practices, including antenna keep‑out, impedance‑controlled traces and decoupling.
• Design and verify power sections such as linear regulators, switching converters and battery chargers.
• Create and maintain component libraries (symbols, footprints, 3D models).
• Prepare manufacturing outputs (Gerbers, drill files, pick‑and‑place data, BOM) and coordinate with vendors.
• Perform board bring‑up and debugging using multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer and bench power supply.
• Support mechanical fit, design for manufacturability and maintain clear documentation.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a Bachelor program in Electronics, Electrical, Communication or a related field.
• Solid understanding of analog and digital electronics fundamentals.
• Ability to read schematics, datasheets and application notes.
• Familiarity with at least one EDA tool (KiCad, Altium, EasyEDA, etc.).
